Invitation to Submit Content for LSU Health Digital Scholar

Sharon Duffy, MLIS, Research Services Librarian & Blair Hollender, MLIS, AHIP Digital Initiatives Librarian - Digital Scholar Team at LSU Health Sciences Center – New Orleans Libraries

Last fall, LSUHSC Libraries announced the launch of LSU Health Digital Scholar, our new institutional repository. This platform showcases and preserves the diverse and impactful research by our faculty, students, residents/fellows, departments, and centers on campus.

Now, we would like to invite you to submit content to be included in our repository.

  • Adding your research output offers significant professional benefits to you as a researcher including global visibility, long-term preservation, and useful metrics.
  • SEO (Search Engine Optimization) means increased visibility and accessibility.
  • Digital Scholar has enhanced metrics and reporting features that offer insights into the reach and impact of your research.
  • Many research projects are funded by grants that have open access requirements. Digital Scholar can help ensure compliance with these requirements.

We’re seeking content in two areas: Faculty Publications and Research Days and Events.

Faculty Publications:

  • Since the focus of the repository is to showcase the institutional work of LSU Health Sciences Center – New Orleans, we are looking to add publications that reflect the work our researchers have done while part of our institution.
  • Publications can be published articles, conference presentations, posters, and more.
  • CVs and ORCID numbers are the best ways to organize and send them for inclusion in Digital Scholar.
  • When there are multiple LSUHSC authors on a single publication, it is posted in the collection of the school of the first campus author.

Research Days and Events:

  • Inclusion of student work helps these materials become more discoverable to a wider audience including potential employers and collaborators.
  • Event organizers are encouraged to reach out to the Library to discuss adding content from their events.
  • If there are privacy or intellectual property concerns regarding the content of some posters, we can work with you to ensure only the permitted content is included.
  • We already have a Surgery Research Symposium and other student medical research posters in our Collections.

Researchers are invited to send an email to the Digital Scholar Team at DigitalScholar@lsuhsc.edu with the publications they would like to include and to get more information about adding content.

Thank you for supporting the research mission of LSU Health Sciences Center – New Orleans!
