My thoughts on every issue of The Pulse tend to read like a broken record -- that once again, I am in awe of the work that each and every one of you does every day that impacts the health within our own homes, our neighborhoods, the state, and far beyond to all corners of the world.

The Faculty Assembly recently recognized several faculty for their outstanding work. To see a list of the winners and nominees, make sure to visit the Organizational Reports section, Faculty Assembly Update.

The Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee has added so many robust programs that we created their own section within the newsletter to highlight all of the opportunities. If someone had told me in "the early days" of my career with LSU Health that CME credits would one day be capable of being earned by listening to something called a podcast while you walked or drove your commute, I would have been incredulous, especially when you would have added that, by the way, this is all from your cell phone that fits in your pocket. Make sure to set aside some time to check out their Tiger Bites podcasts!

The Pulse has always been a place to celebrate our medical and graduate students, residents, and fellows as well. This quarter we have more student news than ever before! Our students play a crucial role in achieving our mission, and this issue makes that more clear than ever.

I continue to be grateful for the opportunity to collect all of this good news and to share it with you. Please continue to help me share the stories of your work! You can email me at dflock@lsuhsc.edu anytime with an idea for a story, information or pictures that we can share. As always, I extend additional thanks to Dr. Judy Crabtree, Todd LaGrange, and Dr. Stephanie Taylor who all work behind the scenes to get each issue published.
