Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee Unveils New Website, Highlights Tiger Bites Podcasts
The Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee is excited to share a new look to the Faculty Development webpages.
Michelle Moore, PsyD, and Jay Mussell, PhD co-chair the committee.
“We hope that you will explore the new design on the webpages and begin to find these pages as your home base for faculty development initiatives moving forward. If you have ideas about content or resources that you would like to see on these pages, please let our committee members know. Your feedback will help make the site more beneficial to all, and we hope to continue to build on what we have started,” they said.
The Tiger Bites Podcasts can also be found on the website, and Moore reminds everyone that they can earn CME credits by listening to the podcast and completing a brief survey after.
“Tiger Bites is designed for School of Medicine faculty and covers a variety of topics including the P&T process, building a CV, how to give grand rounds, how to lead, navigating crucial conversations, and many other topics identified through the faculty needs assessment,” Moore said.
The committee partnered with the Office of Medical Education to enable CME credit for listening to the podcast and answering a short questionnaire. After listening to a podcast, faculty can complete the brief evaluation at the end of the webpage for Episode 5 and Episode 6 to earn CME credits.
The committee also wants to highlight Episode 5 featuring Dr. Shannon Palombo, who explains the basics of quality improvement and how you can turn your everyday work into high quality research opportunities.
Episode 6 highlights Dr. Robin English, who shares her story of success and challenges in her role as Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education. Listeners will learn how to make difficult decisions when everything changes suddenly, and the reward that investing in curricular development can bring to your career.
The Tiger Bites Team (Michelle Moore, Jay Mussell and Laura Bell) shared the following: "Our goal in creating these podcasts was to bring our LSUHSC community together with small bites of learning. They were designed to be the length of a typical commute around the New Orleans area and intentionally short and easy to digest. We hope you enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoyed creating them. Do you have an idea for a podcast that we haven’t covered? Please share your ideas with us at somfacultydevelopment@lsuhsc.edu"
