School of Medicine Represented at the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon
At least three School of Medicine faculty members participated in the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 5. The race is the world’s largest marathon this year with 51,402 finishers.
Michelle B. Moore, Psy.D., ABPP, Chief of Psychology, ran with Team ALS to raise money for the ALS Association of Greater New York. “The weather was perfect, and the crowds were like running down St. Charles Avenue on Mardi Gras Day! I kept a steady pace and finished in 4:37:03. Running the NYC Marathon has been on my bucket list for almost 20 years. It was an amazing experience with so many people who supported this journey from start to finish to make it possible,” she said. (Images, Michelle Moore before and after race)
Stacey L. Holman, MD, Department of OBGYN, ran with Team for Kids to raise funds to support physical activities for youth. “My own two kids are a huge part of my ‘why.’ Running has become a way of life - it challenges me, recharges me, and reminds me every day to be grateful for my health,” she said. “This marathon certainly challenged me every step of the way. I am incredibly thankful for my experience and to everyone who supported me on this journey to the finish line (especially my amazing running partner, Michelle)!”
Michelle Loch, MD, Department of Medicine, Division of Hem/Onc, said she runs to “stay mind and body healthy for myself, my family and my patients. I realize I am lucky to be in the position to do this and will continue while I am still able! I love NYC, the city has special meaning for me and I enjoyed every second of my running tour of the city. This was a culmination of months of early morning runs with my run family, which includes Stacey. I would not have gotten through this without them.”
Loch also ran the BMW Berlin Marathon in September, her first ever marathon. (Images, Stacey Holman and Michelle Loch at the Verrazzano Bridge at the start and at the finish line)
