Faculty Assembly Update
In August, the Faculty Assembly Executive committee met with Interim Dean Dr. Richard DiCarlo, who shared the below information:
- $75 million has been designated for the MEB renovation, which was initially estimated to cost $65 million.
- Demolition will start in early August.
- The Freezer Farm area has been set up for -80 degrees freezers on the 4th floor of the Lions Building.
- There is some space on the 4th floor of the Lions Building to store items for up to two years. This space can also store centrifuges and liquid nitrogen.
- CSRB will house cubicles for postdocs and students on floors three-six.
- The walkway between the CALS building and CSRB will require an additional two to three years before completion.
- The parking lot at CALS is progressing and although no timeline was provided, should be done soon.
- The Admissions Office has completed the move from MEB to CALS.
- Medical school lectures will be held in 1542 Tulane building until the end of September, at which point lectures will be moved to 1st floor of the LIONS building.
- Gross anatomy will be in CALS.
- Dr. Peter DeBlieux has been hired as director for stimulation center.
- Two clinical co-directors for medical students were hired.
- The Department of Diversity and Inclusion moved in early July.
