Biochemistry
Rinku Majumder has been invited by the American Society of Hematology (ASH) to chair
the 2024 the Scientific Committee.
Cardiovascular Center of Excellence
The Louisiana Board of Regents has renewed its approval of the Cardiovascular Center
of Excellence.
Eric Lazartigues, PhD, Director of the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence at LSU Health New Orleans, presented the 2023 Lewis K. Dahl Memorial Lecture at the American Heart Association’s Council on Hypertension earlier this year.
Internal Medicine
Dr. Pierre Detiege (Emergency Medicine) was named a Health Care Hero for 2023 by New
Orleans City Business.
Dr. Catherine Hudson (Gastroenterology) was selected for the highly competitive American College of Gastroenterology Early Career Leadership Program. This will include in-person learning sessions as well as distance learning focused on leadership development as well as social policy and advocacy. She was also invited to join the ACG Women in GI committee for a three-year term.
Dr. Miranda Mitchell (Baton Rouge) has been selected as an American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA)’s 2023 INSPIRE awardee. INSPIRE awards celebrate women in medicine who exemplify the highest values in vision, integrity, service, and collaboration in medicine and healthcare. The AMWA Leadership Council initiated the INSPIRE Awards for the first time in 2021 to honor women physicians who inspire others because of their dedication to health care, compassion for patients, leadership, advocacy, or community service. Recipients of the award are nominated by professional colleagues, supervisors, students, or collaborators. For more information, see the website.

40 Under 40 awards program in recognitionof his leadership and contributions to innovation
and healthcare advancement. The winners represent some of the best, brightest, and
