Dr. Deborah Hilton Named Interim Dermatology Department Head
Deborah Hilton, MD has been named Interim Department Head of Dermatology following the retirement in May of Dr. Brian Lee. Dr. Hilton is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology with more than 20 years of outstanding service to the department. She holds the Henry Jolly, MD, Professorship in Clinical Dermatology and serves as both the dermatology residency program director and the medical student clerkship director. In addition, she is a member of the LSU School of Medicine Undergraduate Medical Education Promotions Committee and has served on other professional society, hospital, and community committees.
Dr. Hilton is a graduate of the LSU School of Medicine and after completing her dermatology residency joined the faculty in 2002. She was an LSU staff physician at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Department of Dermatology for seven years and built an extremely successful private dermatology practice. Dr. Hilton has guided many residents through research projects and currently is the Principal Investigator for two projects: “Hidadrenitis Suppurativa in Skin of Color” and “Alcohol Use and the Risk of Melanoma, the Louisiana Experience.”
During Dr. Lee’s nine years of department leadership, the residency program grew to one of the larger programs in the nation, maintained a 100% board passage rate, and always received excellent scores in reaccreditation reviews.
