Faculty Development Committee and Mentoring Committee Updates
Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee:
The Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee is wrapping up the spring series
of teaching workshops that have been geared towards supporting educators across all
campuses. The final workshop, Providing Effective Feedback, is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2024. All workshops are held over Zoom and offer
opportunities for small group breakout discussions to apply the topic being presented.
Faculty are able to register for individual workshops or all workshops at once using
this registration link. Details are also available on the Faculty Development website.
Following the recent nomination period to elect new members of the Faculty Assembly, the committee is highlighting Dr. Pinki Prasad's podcast Episode 2.5 from Season 2 of Tiger Bites. Listen in as Dr. Prasad explains the role of the Faculty Assembly for the School of Medicine and how you can contribute to academic medicine through service with Faculty Assembly.
The committee is also highlighting Dr. Danny Raines podcast Episode 2.3. Listen in as Dr. Raines shares his experience about serving in an interim leadership role early in his career and how new faculty can envision the possibilities for growth and collaboration throughout the beginning of their faculty career.
Mentoring Committee:
The Mentoring Committee held their first Virtual Speed Mentoring Event in March. Attendees
shared positive comments about the virtual experience and included assistant and associate
professors as mentees. The committee hopes that attracting a range of career stages
as mentees indicates that our faculty are embracing the new inclusive mission of the
committee to serve faculty across the faculty lifespan. The committee plans to host
another speed mentoring event in the Fall, so stay tuned for more information.
Faculty at any stage of their career who are interested in formal mentorship for professional development are invited to complete the brief application online to be paired with mentors in their individualized areas of interest.
