Rebecca Odinet-Frey Named Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education
Dr. Rebecca Odinet-Frey has been named Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education.
                     Dr. Odinet-Frey completed her undergraduate education at LSU, received a master’s
                     of education from the University of Mississippi, and a doctorate in higher education
                     administration and leadership with a concentration in medical education from the University
                     of New Orleans. She joined the LSU School of Medicine as Family Medicine Residency
                     Program Coordinator in 1997, was appointed as the Graduate Medical Education Coordinator
                     in 1999 and Director of Accreditation in 2004.
 
Dr. Odinet-Frey is responsible for accreditation of the LSU School of Medicine-Graduate
                     Medical Education Training Programs which consist of 76 accredited residency and fellowship
                     programs and 12 non-accreditable programs. She also oversees the assessment, implementation,
                     and development of new GME programs and has managed oversight of over 375 ACGME program
                     accreditation site visits. Dr. Odinet-Frey has co-authored four institutional review
                     documents for accreditation by the American Council of Graduate Medical Education
                     (ACGME) and played a key role in achievement of full institutional accreditation from
                     the ACGME four times over a 23-year period. She has also managed the preparation process
                     for over 145 program internal reviews.
 
In addition to her GME and ACGME activities, Dr. Odinet-Frey also helped coordinate
                     and oversaw the LSU School of Medicine 20-month LCME accreditation self-study, application,
                     and site visit that resulted in full medical school LCME accreditation for the most
                     recent cycle. She was also the former GME Ombuds for LSU House staff and worked tirelessly
                     to tackle educational, institutional, program and clinical site challenges to restore
                     the LSU School of Medicine training programs after Hurricane Katrina.
