Isabel Stephany Brassesco, M.Sc., Predoctoral Fellow in the PhD Program in the Department
of Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology was named the Outstanding Young Scientist
Travel Awardee. She will use the $500 travel award to attend the Molecular Parasitology
and Kinetoplastid Molecular Cell Biology Meeting in Woods Hole, MA later this year.
Dr. Lisa Harrison-Bernard, President AWIS-SL and Chair of the Awards Committee, presented
the award at the AWIS-SL Annual Holiday Party hosted by Dr. Liz Simon, AWIS-SL Secretary.
The members of AWIS-SL donated gifts to two families in December for the Salvation Army Angel Tree Drive. The AWIS-SL family has brought cheer to the people around us. The gifts were dropped off with the help of last year’s AWIS-SL Travel Fund Awardee, Eden Gallegos.
