Dr. Alpha Anders Elected as Physiatrist in Training (PHiT) Board President for AAPM&R
PGY4 resident Dr. Alpha Anders (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) has been elected
by residents and fellows from across the country to be the American Academy of Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) Physiatrist in Training (PHiT) Board President
for 2024. As PHiT President, Dr. Anders will plan and lead PHiT board meetings, design
Annual Assembly sessions, and support PHiT board members in the pursuit of their goals.
Additionally, he will represent and advocate for residents and fellows as a liaison
to the AAPM&R Board of Governors.
Dr. Anders has served as the elected Vice President of AAPM&R's PHiT Board over the last year. For AAPM&R's November 2023 Annual Assembly, Dr. Anders was the Session Director for the workshop "Navigating Inappropriate, Unethical, and Biased Situations."
Dr. Anders generated the concept, created the digital framework, and designed the website for the session. He recruited PHiT members and AAPM&R resident members to submit and present cases for the session and he led the session during the assembly. The website for the session can be found here. Dr. Anders was also the session director for the Resident Spasticity Bootcamp at AAPM&R's November 2023 Annual Assembly. He designed the learning objectives and recruited spasticity expert station leaders for the bootcamp. During the hands-on workshop, residents learned spasticity management principles, ultrasound visualization of toxin targets, baclofen pump refilling, and pump programming.
