Faculty Assembly President 2020-2021
The January Faculty Assembly meeting was held virtually. We welcomed guest speaker Dr. Angela McLean, Associate Dean for Admissions. Dr. McLean discussed new policies related to the Admissions Committee for the School of Medicine Research. As we begin a new year, the Assembly received updates to the campus and discussed several initiatives, including:
- Nominations for Faculty Assembly Awards were accepted until February 2nd. Four awards are given to outstanding faculty members each year: Outstanding Service to the Institution; Outstanding Service to the Community; Outstanding Junior Faculty Member; and Outstanding Mentor.
- A Historically-excluded Faculty and DEI Taskforce was developed to discuss relevant and timely issues related to recruitment and retention of Historically-excluded faculty.
- Faculty Assembly bylaws were updated and updates were approved by Assembly Delegates.
Additionally, updates were provided on ongoing construction projects and Department Chair candidate searches.
