ODCE Update
The Office of Diversity and Community Engagement participated in the Louisiana HOSA
(Health Occupations Students of America) state leadership conference held in Baton
Rouge on March 2nd and 3rd. Dr. Robert Maupin and Student Outreach Program Director
Geri Davis, along with several senior medical students showcased the LSU Health Sciences
Center. They were also able to reconnect with area senior high school students who
graduated from the office's Summer Science Program. The Summer Science Program is
one of the office's health professions pipeline programs.
This year's Summer Science Program will take place online through ZOOM because of
concerns related to the pandemic. Many of the participants are high school seniors
who have recently graduated and are on their way to LSU, majoring in pre-med and other
science-related majors. The 27 participating students are among the highest achieving
students in their schools. All participants will receive a Summer Science t-shirt
and face mask.
