Gold Humanism Honor Society LSUHSC New Orleans Chapter Announces Award Recipients

The Gold Humanism Honor Society LSUHSC New Orleans Chapter recently announced the
winners of the Gold Humanism Honor Society 2020 Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.
Congratulations to Ms. Ashley Duhon, Leonard Tow Student Awardee and Dr. Dean Lauret,
Leonard Tow Faculty Awardee.
“We are greatly appreciative of all that the award recipients have done for the students
of the LSU School of Medicine, and will continue to do in the years to come. We thank
them for being role models to students and colleagues, and for having such a profound
impact on the members of our chapter,” said Chapter President Colleen Drapcho.
The chapter also announce the Class of 2021's resident and faculty nominations for
initiation into Gold Humanism Honor Society:
Faculty: Dr. Shannon Palombo, Department of Pediatrics
Resident: Dr. Markeiya Polite, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology - New Orleans
Resident: Dr. Morgan Laurent, Department General Surgery
“These physicians are considered exemplars of empathy, compassion, altruism, and integrity;
their dedication to service in working with patients and others in the field of medicine
inspired their students to nominate them for this honor,” Colleen said. “They will
be inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society LSUHSC New Orleans Chapter. Please

and humanitarians.”
