Each year the Aesculapian Society honors the teaching excellence of its faculty, residents,
and interns. The society sponsors The Excellence in Teaching Award which acknowledges
these individuals for their approachability, enthusiasm, and superior quality of instruction.
Nominees are chosen by each class and then voted on to select a winner. The LSUHSC
Aesculapian Society congratulates this year's 12 recipients of the Excellence in Teaching
awards:
- L1 Fall Semester Award: Dr. Sonya Van Nuland, Cell Biology and Anatomy
- L1 Spring Semester Award: Dr. Joy Sturtevant, Microbiology, Immunology & Parasitology
- L2 Fall Semester Award: Dr. Victoria Burke, Medicine
- L2 Spring Semester Award: Dr. Taniya De Silva, Medicine
- L3 Intern Award: Dr. Quan Nguyen, Surgery
- L3 Resident/Fellow Award: Dr. Danielle Cobb, Surgery
- L3 Staff Award: Dr. Neeraj Jain, Medicine
- L4 Intern Award: Dr. Callender Creel, Emergency Medicine - New Orleans
- L4 Resident/Fellow Award: Dr. John Marston, Internal Medicine - Baton Rouge
- L4 Staff Award: Dr. Mihran Naljayan, Internal Medicine - New Orleans
- Junior Faculty Award (must have less than 5 years' experience at LSUHSC): Dr. Terrel Master, Cell Biology and Anatomy
- Department Award: Pediatrics - New Orleans
