Pediatrics Holds Research Day
The pediatrics department held its annual Pediatric Research Day on Friday, May 2 in Worley Hall.
SOM winners included:
Kayla Griese, DO, an LSU pediatric hospital medicine fellow for Development of a Tracheostomy workshop for Pediatric Hospital Medicine Wards. Griese was awarded the Annual We Dat Award, which recognizes a project that upholds the mission of Manning Family Children's.
Jesus Jaile, IV, MD, LSU Pediatric Cardiology Fellow for Best Oral Presentation: New
Predictive Equation for Oxygen Consumption During Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization

Dr. Jaile also received the Pediatric Research Award – Graduating Fellow for New Predictive Equation for Oxygen Consumption During Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Derived from Real Time Measured Data
Michael Evers, MD, LSU Neonatology Fellow for Best Poster Presentation by a Fellow:
Standardizing and Improving Neurodevelopmental Follow Up of Infants with Hypoxic Ischemic
Encephalopathy in the NICU.
Pediatric Neuroradiologist, Aashim Bhatia, gave the keynote address, Your Role in Discovery: Exploring Opportunities in Pediatric Research. Stuart Chalew provided opening remarks, and Amanda Messer, Shubho Sarkar, and Bonnie
Desselle moderated sessions.
