Neck of Woods
Campus-wide:
The Offices of Title IX & CAP concluded Sexual Assault Awareness Month by joining
Denim Day and hosting an awareness table to share on and off campus resources. They
also accepted donated denim items to give to a local shelter. Denim Day was created
in April 1999, when the women of the Italian Parliament protested a high court decision
that overturned a sexual assault conviction because the victim was wearing tight denim
jeans. The decision sparked international outrage and ignited a movement that continues
to this day. Now recognized each year on the last Wednesday of April, Denim Day is
a powerful reminder that what someone wears is never consent.
