Jason Middleton, PhD from the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy will help us delve into the benefits of AI with a workshop on September 29th from 4-5pm titled Teaching Beyond the Classroom - AI Tutor: Transform your current teaching content to a personalized learning support tool.

Geoff Talmon, PhD from the University of Nebraska will be speaking about Generational Differences in Higher Education on October 16th from 4-5PM.

Visiting from Johns Hopkins, Dr. Christopher Golden conducted a workshop on June 11th on medical educators' strategies to create learning settings for all students to thrive. The session focused on introverted/quiet learners who are reflective thinkers and can often be lost in an environment with more assertive learners. His slides can be found at this link.

LSU’s own Dr. Matt Foy is leading efforts to improve evaluations of our medical students. He facilitated a workshop on June 19th discussing the rationale for changes, the new global evaluation form, and how the evaluation aligns with educational program objectives. The session allowed participants the opportunity to work through example scenarios. The recording can be found here.

Podcast Spotlight

At the beginning of a new academic year, we would like to highlight two episodes from Season 1 and 2 of the Tiger Bites Podcast to get everyone into that start-of-school mindset.

  • Reflecting on Your Professional Identity Development. When is the last time you asked yourself why do I work here and what am I doing with my career? In Episode 1.11, Amy Creel breaks down the nuances of professional identity formation to help you think more clearly about finding a sense of belonging, purpose and passion in your work.
  • Career Development for New Faculty. Have you been curious about how faculty achieve their goals? In Episode 2.3 Daniel Raines shares his experience about serving in an interim leadership role early in his career and how new faculty can envision the possibilities for growth and collaboration throughout the beginning of their faculty career.
