Aesculapian Society Update
Walter Guillory II
Class of 2020, LSUHSC School of Medicine
President, Aesculapian Society
This fall has been a busy one for the Aesculapians. In September, we inducted eight new L1 students into the Society:
- Taylor Boudreaux (L1 Class Coordinator)
- Hannah Theriot (L1 Class Editor)
- Daniel Langteau
- Jack Mierl
- Conner Pate
- Brandi Sun
- David Szarvas
- Brock Williams
These new members are already demonstrating a fervor for quality improvement and a strong commitment to respectfully advocating for their classmates.
In an effort to further develop the spirit of collaboration between faculty and students at LSUHSC, the Society is evaluating the possibility of publishing Aesculapian report data to the student body. As a form of professional feedback meant primarily for faculty and administration eyes, this would be an unusual move. However, we consider it appropriate to provide our classmates with tangible evidence that our course faculty respond to student concerns. Doing so may further incline each School of Medicine class to voice their concerns, hopefully leading to a wider array of suggestions that our faculty can use as they work tirelessly to further improve their courses. Support for this initiative from our Course Directors has been generally positive so far, and we will continue to seek a result that will be satisfactory to both professors and students. Recognizing that our excellent curriculum is and will continue to be a work in progress, we eagerly anticipate more opportunities to serve our classmates and the School of Medicine.
