Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)

The ACCME accredits organizations that provide continuing education to physicians and health professionals. Their website, criteria and Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education can be found here:  http://www.accme.org/

American Medical Association / Physician Recognition Award (AMA/PRA) Credit System

The AMA PRA credit system is recognized and accepted by hospital credentialing bodies, state medical licensure boards and medical specialty certifying boards. The AMA owns the credit system and has the ACCME manage the system of accredited providers. The credit system can be viewed here:  https://www.ama-assn.org/system/files/pra-booklet.pdf

American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)

The ABMS represents 24 medical specialty boards by certifiying the specialty board requirement to earn and maintain certification.  LSU CME office can award MOC credit for board certified internal medicine, orthopaedic surgery, ENT, surgery, pathology, pediatric and anesthesiology MD/DO.
