LSU Orthopaedics Research Team Successfully Presents at 2026 Southern Regional Meeting

We are proud to share that three students in our lab presented their research at this year’s Southern Regional Meeting downtown, and two of the three presentations received research awards.

Julianne Guercio presented “Calcium Sulfate Effects on Macrophage Polarization” and received an SSCI Student Research Award. Ty Gregory presented “Bromelain’s Impact on Cytotoxicity and Differentiation in Myoblasts” and earned 3rd Place in the SSCI Poster Awards—an impressive honor among 410 posters. Cade Harkrider presented “Effects of Bromelain on Fibroblast Viability and Myofibrogenesis in Vitro.”

We want to express how proud we are of these students and everyone involed in the research lab. Their hard work, teamwork, and commitment to research reflect the kind of excellence we are proud to support at LSU Orthopaedics.

We also want to thank Dr. Scott and Dr. Marrero for their support of our students. We truly have an awesome team.
