Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Forum Held
More than 450 Quality Improvement Projects Facilitated by EQuIP and the Annual Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Forum
Since the very first Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Forum was held in 2013, more than 450 quality improvement projects have been launched across the LSU School of Medicine. The 14th Annual Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Forum, hosted by the Enhancing Quality Improvement for Patients (EQuIP) committee and held on May 29th, continued that tradition.
This year's forum opened with the keynote presentation, Joint Commission and National Quality Forum Key Initiatives, delivered by Elizabeth Drye, MD, SM, the Chief Scientific Officer for the National Quality Forum.
The EQuIP committee received 65 abstract submissions this year, reflecting the depth and breadth of quality improvement work being pursued by LSU Health Sciences Center students, residents, fellows, and faculty across our partnering clinical institutions. The day featured five oral presentations from residents, fellows, and medical students representing programs including pediatrics, OBGYN, emergency medicine, bariatric surgery, and neonatology, followed by 45 poster presentations spanning the School of Medicine.
The forum concluded with an awards ceremony. The EQuIP committee congratulated all award winners and presenters, and thanked everyone who submitted an abstract, presented, or attended this year's forum. The EQuIP committee plans to continuing to grow this event and the culture of quality improvement and patient safety it represents.
