Medical Student Research Opportunities

 

The LSUHSC School of Medicine has several types of Student Research Opportunities. Fern Tsien, Ph.D. is the Assistant Dean for Medical Student Research in the School of Medicine. The goal of the Office of Medical Student Research is to offer research training and resources to medical students. Dr. Tsien guides students to intramural and extramuralresearch opportunities and helps facilitate the research component of the curriculum.  This office coordinates the Summer Research Opportunities, the research electives, the Medical Student Honors Program and opportunities for year-long research experiences.

Students participating in the Honors Program and the Medical Student Research Program, are advancing science and showcasing their findings at national and international scientific meetings and through peer reviewed publications.
