LSU Orthopaedics Resident Named LCMC Resident of the Year

The 2024 LCMC Health Resident/Fellow of the Year Awards are presented in recognition of an extraordinary approach to care, teaching, and the pursuit of research.

The members of Medical Staff at each LCMC Health facility nominated and selected winners of these prestigious awards. Winners received an educational stipend and awards were presented to each nominee.. 

PGY-4 Daniel Gelvez won resident of the year at UMC against all other residents and residencies at UMC. He is also the first Orthopaedic resident ever to be honnored with this recognition. 

Hailing from Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Gelvez earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas and then his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Then, looking for a residency with a large Level 1 trauma center, Dr. Gelvez found LSU Orthopaedics.
