Where to Give
Though large, one-time donations often make headlines, most philanthropic support comes from many individuals contributing smaller amounts regularly. Alumni and friends can support the LSU Medical Alumni Association via dues, one-time gifts, recurring gifts, or through membership in the school’s prestigious Committee of 100 – Champions of Excellence leadership giving program. The LSU Medical Association is a 501c3, therefore donations are tax deductible. Donations made to the LSU Medical Alumni Association also qualify for TAF points.
Association Dues
Dues support the Alumni Association's efforts to keep our alumni connected and engaged, such as:
- enhancing communication through print and online channels with alumni, students and other key stakeholders;
- organizing medical alumni reunions; and
- hosting the annual scientific session for alumni.
These initiatives play a crucial role in engaging alumni and friends, fostering their support to strengthen the mission of the LSU School of Medicine.
Additional Gifts
Charitable gifts above and beyond dues payments support important initiatives such as:
- charitable student-led outreach programs such as Camp Tiger and student-run community clinics;
- promoting diversity through the school’s summer enrichment program;
- improving facilities and technology for medical students; and
- funding other strategic initiatives identified by school leadership.
Committee of 100
The Committee of 100 - Champions of Excellence, founded in 1983, is a group of generous supporters who help fund important initiatives for the LSU School of Medicine. Its initial focus was to establish endowed permanent funds, such as professorships and chairs, to support faculty recruitment and retention. Currently, the focus is to support important educational improvements and cutting-edge teaching technology, like the school’s simulation laboratories.Such projects are heavily dependent upon alumni support. Committee of 100 members pledge a minimum of $10,000 to be paid over 10 years.
