The LSU Medical Alumni Association was officially formed in 1985. The first general meeting was held in June 1986, when Julius Mullins ('36) was elected President and a set of by-laws was adopted. Membership dues and contributions to the organization help to support outreach programs, facility improvements, and ongoing communication with alumni, faculty, public officials, and other key stakeholders.

Governed by a board of directors comprised of LSU Medical School alumni, the association meets four times annually. One of these meetings aligns with the general membership meeting, held alongside the association's annual reunion weekend.

All LSU School of Medicine – New Orleans graduates automatically receive MediciNews, the association’s news magazine. The spring Honor Roll issue highlights our generous donors from the previous year.
