Welcome to the LSU Department of Surgery
Since the early 1930’s, the Department of Surgery at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans has received recognition for excellence in patient care, resident and student education, and surgical research in a culture that produced many leaders in the national and international surgical community.
We are comprised of more than 50 faculty across our 8 clinical divisions. We are training the next generation of surgeons in our graduate medical education programs, which include residencies in general surgery, integrated vascular surgery, plastics and reconstructive surgery, and fellowships in colorectal surgery, microsurgery, aesthetics, trauma and critical care, and vascular surgery.
