LSU Health New Orleans Opens COVID-19 Vaccination to General Public

Members of the public can now make appointments to get COVID-19 vaccinations at LSU Health New Orleans. The LSU Health New Orleans’ COVID Vaccination Clinic, located on the first floor of 2020 Gravier Street, also accepts walk-ins on Wednesdays, from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. for the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Appointments will not be necessary. LSU Health New Orleans can vaccinate individuals 12 years of age and older.

For those who would prefer to make an appointment, appointments can be made online at this link.

The LSU Health New Orleans COVID Vaccination Clinic is a collaboration of the LSU Healthcare Network, the multispecialty practice of LSU Health New Orleans faculty, and the LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing. Nursing students are gaining valuable clinical experience by giving the shots under faculty supervision. Students from LSU Health’s other five schools are also volunteering.

LSU Health New Orleans recently transitioned from being a Closed Healthcare POD to an Open POD, able to vaccinate anyone age 12 and up. LSU Health New Orleans had given 15,738 vaccinations as of March 29, 2021.

“We encourage everyone to be vaccinated,” says Dr. Larry Hollier, Chancellor of LSU Health New Orleans. “These safe and effective vaccines are our way out of the pandemic, and we are pleased to help make them available to our community.”
