Amelia Jernigan, MD
Associate Professor of Gynecologic Oncology
Division Director of Gynecologic Oncology

Dr. Jernigan joined LSU in September of 2016 and has never looked back. She's from Annapolis, Maryland originally, but fell in love with New Orleans in College. She went away for medical school (Jefferson in Philadelphia), residency (Hopkins in Baltimore) and fellowship (The Cleveland Clinic) before finally finding her way back. When she's not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeff, son, Robert, and two crazy dogs “Edgar Allan Po'Boy” and “Jodie Bananas Foster.”

Castellano
Tara Castellano, MD
Assistant Professor of Gynecologic Oncology

Dr. Castellano grew up in New Orleans and attended LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at UNC Chapel Hill and fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Oklahoma before returning home. She joined our group in the Fall of 2020. She is passionate about bringing the highest quality care to the women of South Louisiana.

Agyemang

Amma Agyemang MD, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Gynecologic Oncology

Dr. Amma Agyemang is a Gynecologic Oncologist with LSU Health New Orleans.  Born in Los Angeles, CA and raised in Accra, Ghana, she received a B.S. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the State University of New York at Albany and a MD, Ph.D. in immunology from Harvard university. She went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Boston Medical Center followed by a research and clinical fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Agyemang’s  current research is focused broadly on the shared cell signaling networks implicated in inflammation and malignancy, translational research and clinical trials involving immunotherapy and gynecologic malignancies.  She loves to spend time with family and friends, and enjoys cooking, yoga and running.
