Bio

Dr. Collins began his postgraduate education at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Chemistry. He graduated with honors from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed 2 years of General Surgery residency followed by 4 years of Urology residency at Louisiana State University and Ochsner Clinic. After teaching urology for 2 year on the faculty of LSU School of Medicine, Dr. Collins took a 1 year sabbatical to complete the Southwest Oncology Group/ Columbia Univeristy Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Urological Oncology in New York. Since returning to home in New Orleans, Dr. Collins has served as Director of Minimally Invasive Urological Oncology at LSU Health Sciences Center. He is actively involved in teaching minimally invasive surgical techniques to the next generation of urological surgeons. His research interests include community-wide screening for malignancies of the genitourinary tract and the development and testing of minimally invasive surgical devises. He maintains an active practice, seeing patients in need of minimally invasive urological care from throughout the region and nationwide.
