Bio

Dr. Raines started her educational journey earning a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from Clemson University. She attended medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine where she spent time at both University of North Carolina and Augusta University Medical Center training in general surgery prior to completing urology residency at Tulane University where she felt right at home in New Orleans.

Dr. Raines completed her training with a pediatric urology fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Her fellowship research focused on the novel utilization of indocyanine green (ICG) to assess tissue perfusion in various pediatric urologic surgeries, including an award-winning video focused on ICG use in bladder exstrophy. She was awarded an Alberta Corkery scholarship which supported her travel to present her work nationally and internationally. During fellowship she cultivated an interest in quality improvement, completing a certificate program in Patient Safety and Quality at the University of Washington.

After completion of fellowship, Dr. Raines was thrilled to return to New Orleans where she enjoys caring for the children of Louisiana and training the next generation of medical students and urology residents at the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans. Her clinical interests include robotic surgery on the kidney, ureters, and bladder. She is always looking for ways to improve the quality of care for her patients.
