LSU-OLOL Laryngology Fellowship

The laryngology fellowship is based at Our Lady of the Lake Voice Center in Baton Rouge under the guidance of the Program Director, Dr. Andrew J. McWhorter.   It is a non-ACGME accredited fellowship administered through the NRMP match.

About the Fellowship

Candidates that will complete an ACGME-accredited Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency are eligible to apply during their PGY-4 year. The fellowship has only one trainee at any time. CVs and letters of recommendation should be sent at the beginning of your fourth year (PGY-4), and interviews are performed in the same academic year with matching in May of the PGY-4 year.

The fellowship is a one-year clinical fellowship encompassing the breadth of laryngology with a special emphasis on the management of laryngeal cancer.  The majority of the fellowship is spent in an apprenticeship model with Dr. McWhorter and Dr. Lacey Adkins working with the speech pathology team in the Voice Center. The fellow also has their own weekly laryngology clinic through our LSU Health Program. Research opportunities are clinical as well as include working with the LSU Laryngeal Imaging Research Lab with Dr. Melda Kunduk and Dr. Takeshi Ikuma.
