LSUHSC Faculty to Present at AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & Oto Expo
The faculty of LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) Department of Otolaryngology are set to participate in various presentations at the American Academy of Otolaryngology‒Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNSF) Annual Meeting & Oto Expo in Miami from September 28 to October 1, 2024.
ISSS Meeting Participation:
- Thursday, September 26 & Friday, September 27: Dr. Kevin McLaughlin will serve as a “How I Do It” instructor in the Cadaver lab and as a Nasal Surgery panel moderator at the International Society of Sleep Surgery (ISSS) meeting. (Agenda here.)
AAO-HNS Panels and Presentations:
- Saturday, September 28: Dr. Rohan Walvekar will be a panelist in the discussion “Is Parotidectomy Indicated for Chronic Sialadenitis?” This session will cover the evaluation of chronic parotitis, compare gland-preserving and ablative approaches, and discuss indications for parotidectomy while mitigating complications.
- Sunday, September 29: Dr. Moises Arriaga is the senior author for LSUHSC medical student Omar W. Azmeh’s scientific oral presentation titled “Early Results With Hypofractionated Gamma Knife Radiotherapy for Treatment of Vestibular Schwannoma.” Co-authors include Dr. Samuel Barber of LSUHSC and Dr. Maurice King of the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
- Tuesday, October 1: Dr. Jill D’Souza will be a panelist in the discussion “Using Large Databases to Identify the Impact of Social Vulnerabilities of Health on Pediatric Cancer Care.” This panel will explore methods to maximize information from databases to identify, quantify, and interpret vulnerabilities faced by patients, and how these findings can inform public health initiatives.
