Dr. Risher trained in general surgery and cardiovascular surgery at Ochsner Clinic, and is board certified in both specialties. He was at the University of Rochester in the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery, where he oversaw the residency program and started the Center for Aortic Disease and the Thoracic Transplant Program. He was the Head of Cardiovascular Surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital Network in Bethlehem, PA. He was recruited back to New Orleans to head up the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery. He has extensive experience with both cardiac and vascular surgery. He started a multidisciplinary lung cancer clinic, Center for Aortic Disease, congestive heart failure clinic, and arrhythmia clinic at the two previous locations.
