Bio
Charles Dupin, MD is the Chief and Program Director of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans. He is Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery and has held the post of Program Director for 13 years. He has been Chief of the division for 6 years. He is a dedicated proponent of plastic surgery training and committed to excellence. He has had over 30 years of clinical experience in Plastic Surgery. Dr. Dupin is a diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is a member of the Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Reconstructive Surgery and the American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons. He was an important member of the LSU plastic surgery team that developed the perforator flap, along with Robert Allen, MD, and participated in international training courses teaching perforator flap techniques. He has a number of publications, which evolved from this new and exciting technique. One of these articles won the James Barrett Brown award as the best publication in the plastic surgery literature.
Dr. Dupin’s primary interests are in reconstructive microsurgery and breast surgery. He has also worked extensively in the area of facial reconstruction and published several book chapters about the techniques and principles of facial reconstruction.
