Dr. Robert Batson served as Interim Chairman of the Department of Surgery in 2010. He was named The Isidore Cohn, Jr., Professor and Department Head in 2011 and served until 2022. Dr. Batson has served as Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery at LSU since 1996. He performed his surgical residency at Charity Hospital and completed his vascular surgery fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Batson is Board Certified in Vascular Surgery and a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery. Including his current responsibilities, Dr. Batson has held many professional appointments including Fellowship Director for Vascular Surgery at LSU Medical Center as well as Professor of Clinical Surgery.
