Louisiana Orthopaedic Association

The LOA Student Chapter at LSUHSC New Orleans provides opportunities for students interested in practicing orthopaedics, especially in the state of Louisiana, the opportunity further their orthopaedic interest by getting involved with the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association (LOA) through its monthly workshops, educational events, student competitions, annual New Orleans convention, and interactions with LOA’s practicing orthopaedic surgeon members across the state both on and beyond LSUHSC New Orleans’s campus.

Meetings are held once or more monthly. The majority of meetings will feature LOA guest speakers or workshops that cover a wide range of orthopaedic topics such as shadowing opportunities, research, new technologies, residency applications, fellowship programs, post-residency career paths, and general networking among LOA members. Additionally, some meetings will be held to discuss LOA state-level leadership opportunities and coordinate with other LOA state chapters on joint workshops or speaking events. Finally, we will hold meetings to inform members interested in participating in the annual New Orleans LOA convention’s residency and medical student competitions and educational events.
