State Opioid Response Grant
In 2018, the Louisiana Department of Health was awarded a State Opioid Response grant from the
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The grant was
among the more than $1 billion in opioid-specific grants SAMHSA awarded nationally
at the time.

Louisiana Dept. of Health Collaborates with LSUHSC
Using funds from the State Opioid Response, the Louisiana Department of Health partnered
with LSU Health Sciences Center to launch the Louisiana State Opioid Response (LaSOR)
Project.
The LaSOR Project
The focus of the LaSOR Project is to expand the availability of Medications for Opioid
Use Disorder (MOUD) treatment throughout the state, divided into 10 regions.
