What services do we offer at LSUHSC’s Division of Forensic Psychiatry?
Our division provides forensic mental health evaluations in criminal, civil, and administrative legal matters. We specialize in objective, evidence-based methods to answer referral questions with integrity. We conduct both court-ordered and retained evaluations for attorneys, employers, state agencies and other parties. We provide evaluations for individuals across the lifespan from youth through adulthood. We work for state-reimbursable rates, as appropriate. Our evaluation services provided include:

Forensic Consultation
Our department is pleased to provide consultation to attorneys, government agencies, and others in criminal and civil legal matters that involve mental health issues. As part of this process, we review case materials and mental health evaluations and help counsel distill the issues in a way that is useful to your case. Specific services provided include those related to expert witness selection and preparation, direct and cross assistance for mental health experts, and access and explanation of relevant psychological research.
Who are our providers?
Our faculty consists of a strong multidisciplinary team that includes trained forensic psychiatrists and psychologists, as well as opportunities for adult psychiatry residents and the forensic psychiatry fellow to participate in evaluations.
