Welcome to the Cardiac Intensive Care Section
The Cardiac Intensive Care Division is a core clinical and academic component of the Manning Family Children’s Hospital Heart Center, a comprehensive pediatric and congenital cardiovascular center of excellence in Louisiana and Gulf Coast Region that has been restructured and is actively growing over the last decade. The Cardiac ICU is staffed and led by LSUHSC Department of Pediatrics faculty with the highest-level training and skills in caring for critically ill patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.
Boasting excellent cardiac surgical outcomes, the most advanced diagnostic, interventional, and ambulatory cardiac care available, the Cardiac ICU is driving innovation in cardiovascular care with the commencement of a pediatric heart transplant and long-term mechanical circulatory support program in the coming year, thus broadening the clinical and academic opportunities in our service to the children of the region and contribution to the field of cardiac critical care.
