Bio
Dr. Lance Stuke has been part of LSU Health New Orleans since 2009 and currently serves
as Interim Division Chief of Trauma and Critical Care Surgery, as well as Program
Director for General Surgery.
He earned both his Medical Degree and Master of Public Health from Tulane University
before completing his general surgery internship and residency at Parkland Hospital/University
of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. Dr. Stuke then returned to New Orleans for a clinical
fellowship in trauma and critical care surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Stuke’s clinical expertise spans trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical
critical care. He has been instrumental in advancing education and patient care at
LSU Health New Orleans. As Program Director, he leads one of the nation’s largest
general surgery residency programs.
Beyond LSU Health, Dr. Stuke is deeply engaged in the surgical community. He currently
serves as President of the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and
as Louisiana’s Governor on the American College of Surgeons Board of Governors. Additionally,
he is a certifying oral board examiner for the American Board of Surgery and a member
of the Central Committee of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.
