Bio
Alexis R. Scheuermann, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at LSU Health New Orleans, specializing in
trauma and critical care surgery. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbial,
Cellular, and Molecular Biology from Auburn University in 2014 and her Doctor of Medicine
from Louisiana State University in 2019. Dr. Scheuermann completed her general surgery
residency at LSUHSC and a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of
Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Scheuermann holds advanced certifications in trauma and cardiac life support,
laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery, and robotic surgery. Her clinical and academic
interests include trauma evaluation, surgical education, and complex abdominal injuries.
Dr. Scheuermann is recognized for her contributions to education and patient care,
receiving honors such as the Keenan J. Buechter Trauma Award and Outstanding Resident
Educator Award.
