Rheumatology Fellowship
The Section of Rheumatology at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans offers a two-year fellowship program leading to board eligibility in rheumatology. Fellowship training takes place at affiliated hospitals in the New Orleans area and provides in-depth clinical training as well as the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical research.
The Rheumatology Fellowship Program at LSUHSC was established by Dr. Joe Biundo in
1972. Then in 1992 Dr. Luis Espinosa guided the program for 28 years until his passing
in March 2020. Since its initial establishment, the Rheumatology Fellowship Program
has continued to focus on our mission to produce outstanding academic physician scientists
and clinician educators. Our aim is to facilitate our fellows throughout their training
to become excellent clinicians with a comprehensive exposure to different aspects
of our specialty.
