Bio
Dr. Ferral is a Professor of Radiology at LSU New Orleans. He is also vice-chairman of research for the section of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Ferral obtained his Medical Degree in 1985 at the Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Instituto Nacional de la Nutricion in Mexico City from 1986-1988, and then completed a residency in Radiology at the same institution from 1988 to 1991.
Dr. Ferral completed a two year clinical fellowship in Interventional Radiology at University of Minnesota from 1991 to 1993. Dr Ferral became an Assistant Professor in Radiology at LSU New Orleans in 1995. He started the Interventional Radiology fellowship program at LSU in 1996 and was the program director until the year 2000. Dr. Ferral became Associate Professor of Radiology in 2001 at University of Texas in San Antonio. He maintained this position until 2004 when he moved to Chicago in 2004.
After almost 20 years of private practice, Dr. Ferral returned to New Orleans in March of 2020 and joined the LSU faculty as a full Professor of Radiology. Dr. Ferral has published 130 articles in peer-reviewed journals and is the Editor in Chief of "RadCases", a series of books published to prepare residents for the Board Exam.
Dr. Ferral lives with his wife and his two dogs. His hobbies are music and reading true crime and history books.
