Dr. Houser began her academic journey at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where
she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology, Health, and Society. Eager
to further her expertise, she pursued a Master of Arts in Secondary Education at Loyola
Marymount University in Los Angeles, while teaching high school Biology. Her passion
for medicine led her to the American University of the Caribbean in Cupecoy, St. Maarten,
where she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree.
Dr. Houser completed internship and residency in Pediatrics at the Louisiana State
University (LSU) Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana where she also served
as Chief Resident. Dr. Houser has received board certification in both Pediatrics
and Obesity Medicine.
Dr. Houser has been deeply involved in state and national service for the Academic
Pediatric Association, the Obesity Medicine Association in addition to helping establish
the Louisiana Obesity Society and the Committee on Childhood Obesity and Nutrition
for the Louisiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Houser provides pediatric and obesity-focused care alongside pediatric residents
at DePaul Community Health Center. Throughout her career, Dr. Houser has demonstrated
a commitment to advancing both the clinical and academic fields of pediatrics and
obesity medicine, and she continues to contribute to the well-being of children and
communities through her clinical practice, research, and leadership.
