Bio

Dr. Lawicki serves LSU Health Sciences Center-New Orleans as an Associate Professor of Clinical Pathology, and as the Medical Director of Transfusion and Apheresis Services/Blood Bank and Director of the Coagulation Lab at University Medical Center-New Orleans. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Laboratories at Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center and Riverside Medical Center. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Lawicki serves as Medical Director of the UMC-NO Specialist in Blood Banking Medical Technologist Program, Director of the LSUHSC-NO and Tulane School of Medicine Blook Bank Electives for Hematology/Oncology Fellows. He has developed and implemented transfusion medicine and coagulation curriculums, a clinical pathology unknown case conference and a call/consult conference for the LSUHSC-NO pathology residents, as well as created teaching materials for immunohematology cases, blood bank/coagulation, transfusion medicine and thromboelastography interpretation. He also instructs LSUHSC medical students in the areas of hematology, transfusion medicine and coagulation. He is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathology, and a member of the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies, American Society for Apheresis, International Society for Laboratory Hematology and Hawaii Society for Pathologists.

He is a member of several committees at LSUHSC-NO, including the Pathology Residency Clinical Competency Committee, Pathology Resident Interview and Selection Committee and Pathology Residency Program Evaluation Committee, and serves as chair of the UMC-NO Laboratory Stewardship Committee, co-chair of the UMC-NO Transfusion Review Committee, and member of the UMC-NO Multidisciplinary Trauma Committee.
