Biography
Dr. James Scott McMurray is the Service Chief of Pediatric Otolaryngologist at Children’s Hospital New Orleans beginning June 2020. Dr. McMurray earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1990. He completed residency training in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago under David Hanson from 1990-95. He completed a Laryngeal Fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine under Drs. Cummings, Flint and Kashima from 1995-96. He also completed a Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center under Dr. Robin Cotton from 1996-98. Dr. McMurray has more than 21 years experience as a Pediatric Otolaryngology Surgeon at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1998-2020 where he was an Associate Professor. He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
He has specialized in pediatric voice and swallowing disorders, and airway reconstruction. As an otolaryngologist, he chose pediatrics because he enjoys helping to point children in the right direction to achieve their optimal potential. Dr. McMurray sees patients at Children’s Hospital Main Campus, and Baton Rouge Specialty Center.
