Dr. Dedrick Moulton Will Serve as Department Head for Pediatrics

We are pleased to announce that Dedrick Moulton, MD will serve as the Department Head for Pediatrics.

Dr. Moulton comes to LSU from Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC where he is a Professor of Medicine. Prior to joining Atrium Health, he was a faculty member at LSU School of Medicine and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he served as Associate Medical Director of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Nashville, TN. While at LSU, Dr. Moulton served as Pediatric Gastroenterology Service Line Chief and director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at Children’s Hospital New Orleans, LA, Pediatrics GI fellowship director and Vice-Chair for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Moulton received his MD from University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. He completed his pediatrics residency at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC and both clinical and research fellowships in Gastroenterology at St. Louis Children’s Hospital-Washington University, St. Louis, MO. He has received NIH and Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation grants and industry contracts to conduct clinical trials, perform genetic analysis of children with inflammatory bowel disease, and to evaluate a multianalyte biomarker for distinguishing ulcerative colitis from Crohn’s disease in children.
