School of Medicine

Letter from the Faculty Accreditation Lead and the Dean

Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation is an important process for our school, as it allows us to maintain accreditation and to participate in continuous review and improvement of our medical education program.  We were granted full accreditation status in our last cycle, which included our site visit in November 2017.  Our next site visit is October 20-22, 2025.

Our institutional self-study for the upcoming site visit includes a detailed review of all components of our medical education program, including our mission, our organizational processes, our curriculum and its outcomes, and our programs to support students.  This self-study includes a broad representation of our academic community, including students, residents, faculty, administrative staff, and hospital partners.  Student input is a critical component of the accreditation process, and we have engaged a group of student leaders to fulfill this part of our self-study.

As the self-study progresses, we will share status updates on this website as well as in meetings with our stakeholders.  If you have any questions or concerns about the accreditation or self-study process, please feel free to contact Dr. English at rengli@lsuhsc.edu.

Thank you so much for all that you contribute to our medical education program for our students.

Robin English, MD, Faculty Accreditation Lead
