Prerequisites for Admission
Applicants to the Human Genetics Graduate Program must have earned a Baccalaureate degree that includes a minimum of two (2) semesters of biology and one (1) semester of calculus from an accredited college or university. They are expected to have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale, a minimum total score (Verbal plus Quantitative) of 310 on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Aptitude Tests, and for the students of foreign origin a score of at least 90 on the TOEFL or at least 7 on the IELTS.
Procedure for Applying
The Department of Genetics admits students into the PhD program at the beginning of the Fall Semester. Applications for admission should be sent directly to the School of Graduate Studies prior to March 1st for entrance the following August. A complete application consists of an application form, a statement of short-term career goals, two (2) official transcripts from each college or university attended, two (2) letters of recommendation (preferably from former professors), official GRE scores, official TOEFL score (if applicable), and a $30 non-refundable application fee. No applicant will be considered for acceptance until a complete application has been submitted.
